Pay It Forward Crafts

So on Facebook I had a friend post the following message:Pay it forward 2011! I promise to send something handmade to the first 5 people who leave a comment on this status. However, you must in turn post this as your status and send something you make to the first 5 people who comment on your status. ***The rules are that it must be handmade by you and it must be sent out to your 5 sometime in 2011!****

So I started making my items for each of my gals. I went round and round about what I wanted to make so I decided on these cute 3½ x 3½ note card boxes. I have 4 more to make so I'll post pics of those soon. I even made the envelopes myself and lined them with the same pattern paper I used on the notecards and box itself.

Friendship Blog Hop

Good Morning & Welcome! I hope you're enjoying the weekend & most importantly enjoying the FRIENDSHIP blog hop. If you came from visiting Sigrid's you're in the right place. If you were looking at my blog and want to play along with our blog hopping fun, you can start at the beginning with Jennifer's at Crafty Card Gallery. This hop is intended to help get ideas for anytype of Friendship Cards to inspire you. There will be opportunities to win blog candy along the way! So sit back and enjoy the hop!

OMGosh my current obsession of combining colors are blues & browns or green & browns. So for this 1st Friendship card what better combination than to combine all 3 of my favorite colors together...blue, brown and green.

POCKET GREETING TAG: You can't tell by looking at the butterfly but it is 3D on the card. I created a duplicate butterfly and put it underneath the one you see and used popdots to 3D the one on top. I punched a hole at the top of card and put a brown ribbon.

Details/dimensions * Card measures 8" x 3½" * Tag cut using Tags, Bags, Boxes & More Cricut Cartridge * pocket tag is 6" x 2" not removeable (can be if you duplicate card) * Butterfly is cut using the Pink Journey Cricut Cartridge * Pocket for tag 4" x 3½"

Details/paper dimensions

* Card measures 7" x 5" * solid rectangle in the middle measures 6¼" x 2¼" * squares measure 2" x 2" * polka-dot paper measures 6¾" x 4¾" * chipboard flower and inked using Color Box ink set

Have you ever run out of envelopes to fit your cards? I have and I have a trick/solution for you. Say for instance your card measures 8 x 3½ (such as my 1st card in this hop) and you need the exact size. Well what I've done is take a regular store bought larger card envelope (8 3/8" X 5 3/8) and cut it down to the size I needed. My card fits perfectly inside. I cut it where I need it and then glue the bottom down and vowala, instant envelope. You can use any envelope I think. I've done it many times.

Valentine Treat Bags

This was my daughter's 1st holiday party in her Preschool. It was Valentine's Day. So for each of her classmates (20) I made these cute little treat bags.

Treat bag dimensions
  • red cardstock
  • cardstock measures 10 1/2 x 3 3/8
  • score at 4, 4 1/2 and 5 inches
  • DCWV The Spring Stack from JoAnn
  • heart was cut out using Cricut cartridge Doodlecharms

I wish I could say that I came up with this myself but I didn't. I always like to give credit where credit is due when it comes to other Crafty Sisters I come across. So that being said, I found this tutorial on YouTube. The teacher's name is Splitcoaststampers for this craft.

Thanks for stopping by. See you next blog.

Guest Designer: 1CraftyDame--Post #2

Hi there! I just couldn't stay away too long!

Today I am posting a Sympathy card. I used Lyrical Letters --which is one of my favorite cartridges! I used it to cut out the framed flower. The patterned paper is from Stampin' Up, as is the "so very sorry" stamp. Inside I hole punched the top of the card to make a bow from a ribbon that I picked up at Michaels. The flower cut frame is cut out of a beige bazzil paper. I have made this card several times, with different papers but I love how the colors go well together and the bling compliments the bazzil paper. Inside I inked up the patterned paper to add a little finishing touches to it. The card measures 4"x5.5".

Enjoy! :)

Thanks for stoppin' by!

Wishing you well,

Guest Designer: 1CraftyDame

Hi all! What an honor it was that Laura asked if I could be a guest designer on her blog this week! I am excited for many reasons, but the main one being that this is my first time being a "Guest Designer."

I suppose a little introduction is in order. My name is Holly, a.k.a. 1CraftyDame. I am a 30-something christian gal; I have been scrapbooking off and on for about 11 years, but only within the last few years have I started dabbling in new crafts. I started knitting a few years ago-the extent of my knitting have been scarves and a little blanket for our dog Scout. I started making cards about 3 years ago, and it seems like that is all I do at times. Within the last year I have started experimenting with glass etching, and a little sewing! About 2 months ago I have gotten really interested in paper crafts in general! As you can tell, I like it all, and I LOVE learning new techniques as I go along.

I met Laura through another friend of mine at a Crop at our local scrapbook store --OMGosh I can't even remember how long ago! Anyways she is a dear friend it is a pleasure to be contributing on her blog this week.

So let's get down to business--that is what you are here for right!? So today I decided to make a new "Clean"/"Dirty" sign for our dishwasher. I had made one before that somewhat matches the color of paint in our kitchen. But I wanted a seasonal one to hang. Below are pictures of the process and the end product. For the font I used "A Child's Year" cartridge--oh how I am liking that font! The patterned paper for the hanging tag is from Brenda Walton called "Sweet Talk Postage Stamps", and the heart patterned paper is from DCWV out of their "Spring Matstack." And the pink card stock is also from DCWV out of their double sided colored card stock Mat Stack.

Here is a close up of the papers:
Matted the heart patterned paper and rounded the corners.
I then attached the letters to the patterned paper and added some ribbon:

Cut out and matted the stamps from the Brenda Walton paper:

Here is one side of the finished product: Sandwiched the two sides together with the ribbon for the tag:

And here is the other side:

I hope you have enjoyed this little project! I had fun making it and will probably be making more to match the season! hehe!

Please feel free to check out my blog over at 1CraftyDame. I am still fairly new to craft blogging so forgive me for the lack of posts over there.

Stay tuned, later this week I will have another project for you! And this time I am gonna break out the sewing machine!

Wishing you well,
1CraftyDame
